Expanded Distribution with KDP
If your book is listed with a large book distributor, the online retailers and bookstores they partner with can buy your book. Through Expanded Distribution, you can distribute and make your book available (this doesn’t guarantee that your book will be ordered) to online retailers, bookstores, and distributors.
Eligibility
Your book must be available on Amazon and meet these requirements:
- ISBN. The paperback can have an ISBN you bought or one assigned by KDP. Your book’s ISBN must not have been submitted for distribution through any other service.
- Trim size. Trim size requirements depend on paper type. Paperbacks with white paper must have an industry standard trim size. Books with cream paper must have one of the following trim sizes: 5″ x 8″, 5.25″ x 8″, 5.5″ x 8.5″, or 6″ x 9″.
Royalties
If you enable Expanded Distribution for your paperback, the royalty rate is 40% of the book’s list price effective in the distribution channel at the time of purchase, minus printing costs, applicable taxes, and withholding.
Enabling Expanded Distribution
Enable Expanded Distribution in the Paperback Rights & Pricing section on KDP.

Availability
It can take up to six to eight weeks for your book to become available in Expanded Distribution channels. Additionally, if you change your book’s details, content, or pricing, it can take up to six to eight weeks for the information to update in all the Expanded Distribution channels. Your book will still be available, but it will have the previous information until the information is updated in the channels.
The Expanded Distribution channels don’t reflect changes in real time because distributors and their clients update their information at different times. That means you might see differences in your book’s details, content, pricing on other websites.
Print Quality in Expanded Distribution
Books sold through the Expanded Distribution channels might be manufactured by third parties. There may be minor differences in manufacturing (e.g., paper thickness, color shade, etc.)
